10 Things About American Bully

1.- American Bully is a breed of dog that originated in the United States. It was created from a combination of American Staffordshire Terriers, American Pitbull Terriers, and Bulldog-type breeds. The American Bully is a medium-sized dog that stands between 16 and 20 inches tall and weighs between 30 and 65 pounds.

This is one of the most misunderstood breeds, so I wanted to clarify a few points about the American Bully.

2.- The American Bully is often mistaken for a pit bull. In reality, they are two different breeds.American bullies are not pit bulls. However, they have been bred with other bully breeds so they are no longer considered pitbulls.

These are some of the key differences that distinguish the American Bully from the Pit Bull.

Head Size: The American Bully is larger than the pit bull’s head, especially when compared to their bodies.

The leg length of American bullies: They have shorter legs than pit bulls. The American Bully’s classic breed has the longest legs.

Muscles: Pit bulls are definitely muscular, but muscles are what the American Bully was bred to have, so they often have large, well-defined muscles that cover their bodies.

General build: An American bully’s overall build is more than that of a pit bull. Their chests are wider and their legs are farther apart.

3.- There are 4 sizes of the American Bully.

The ABKC recognizes four sizes of American bullies:

Standard

Pocket

Large

XL

A pocket American bully is a male who measures 14 to 17 inches (35 to 43 cm at the shoulder) and a female who measures 13-16 inches (333-40 cm at the shoulder). This size is the same as the standard American bully in terms of proportions and characteristics.

XL

American bullies XL (Extra Large), are larger than the standard size, but they should still have the same build and proportions. 20 to 23 inches (50-60 cm) and 19 to 22 inches (48-60 cm) are the sizes of males and females. This is the maximum size that can be accepted for this breed at this time.

The classic American Bully is approximately the same height as its standard counterpart, but it is distinguished by its distinctive build. These dogs have shorter frames and less muscle than the standard, pocket and XL versions.

4.- Bully puppies are very expensive

You may be wondering what American bullies are worth. Here’s the truth: Bully puppies can be expensive.

It all depends on whether you’re getting one as a pet or to show. However, most bully puppies will be priced between $2000 to $7000.

Adult dogs of high quality and proven ability to produce exceptional puppies might sell for more. For example, White Rhino was the first dog to sell for $250,000 .

You might be able find American bully puppies for sale if you are looking for a family pet.

5.- The American Bully is a brand new breed

Although some breeds of dog have been around for hundreds years, the American Bully was only developed in the 1980’s and 90’s. The ABKC recognized it as a breed in 2004 and the United Kennel Club in 2013.

The American Bully’s history dates back to the time when bulldogs, terriers, and other animals were used as sport. These cruel animal-fighting activities were eventually stopped and the dogs were bred together to create the bull terriers.

These dogs grew to include many of the bully breeds mentioned above. Breeders began to mix pit bulls with Staffordshire bullterriers in order to create the ultimate companion puppy.

The American Bully was born. This dog has all the traits that make these breeds great companions despite their aggressive tendencies.

6.- American bullies are simple to train

Bullies, like many other dog breeds love to please their owners which makes them simple to train. Although they will require some effort and consistency in training, this intelligent breed will be easy to train.

7.- This breed is not suitable for all.

The American Bully is a working dog breed that has kept its energy high. You need to make sure they get enough exercise so that they don’t become bored.

Dogs that are bored often become destructive.

You don’t have to take your bully out for exercise every day, so make sure to do some indoor exercise.

8.- American bullies are great family dogs

American bullies are a great example of a family dog. They are loyal and loveable, but they have been deliberately bred to be aggressive.

They make great family pets so you can be sure that your children are not at risk when you bring one into your home.

Keep in mind that, although the goal of this breed was to eliminate aggression, some bullies will still have issues with other dogs .

If you have pets, it is a good idea to be cautious when bringing an adult bully into the home.

9.- They can live between 10 and 13 years.

Your American bully can live up to 13 years if you take good care of it.

10.- American bullies need little grooming

The American Bully is a breed that needs very little grooming. Their short, smooth coat requires only quick brushing once or twice a week.

This is especially good news for those who don’t have time or money to pay a groomer to care for their furry friend.

Keep in mind that this fur type can become cold easily in winter. You may need to wrap your bully in a jacket or sweater to take outside when it drops below freezing.

Let’s face it, we all know that this isn’t the most flattering way to be honest. A sweater-wearing bully is about the cutest thing.
